Singer Island
Singer Island is located just off the coast of Riviera Beach on the South End and Palm Beach Gardens on the North end. It was part of Palm Beach Island before the Palm Beach Inlet was created. It was bought by the heir to the Singer Sewing Machine fortune during the Florida Land Boom in the 1920s. He planned two grand hotels and a golf course in between, but after the Florida Land Boom came an economic downturn and the only thing that was built was the shell of the Blue Heron Hotel. Singer Island is just five miles long and ½ mile wide. The island is surrounded by nature preserves and wildlife. Many of the old smaller motels and houses have been replaced by luxury hotels and high-rise condos in recent decades. Marriot, Hilton and Sheraton all have luxury hotels on the island. Besides the luxury condos, there lots of vacation homes available for sale.
